EOC: Week 10: What are the benefits vs the features?

"A brand’s value proposition is the set of benefits or values it promises to deliver to consumers to satisfy their needs. At AT&T, it’s “Your World. Delivered.” whereas with T-Mobile, family and friends can “Stick together.” The diminutive Smart car suggests that you “Open your mind to the car that challenges the status quo,” whereas Infiniti “Makes luxury affordable.” And a recent joint advertisement by Kraft and Campbell features a tomato-soup-and-grilled-cheese-sandwich combo that “Warms hearts without stretching budgets.” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, Pg. 9)
The benefits of the Chorizo Tapas by Phileas Fogg is to give adults a more memorable and exciting experience. The snack products of Phileas Fogg not only provide exotic flavors but it allows people to try the many flavors of the world and experience the culture without having to pay money to travel to these places.
A product can be offered with varying features. A stripped-down model, one without any extras, is the starting point. The company can create higher-level models by adding more features. Features are a competitive tool for differentiating the company’s product from competitors’ products. Being the first producer to introduce a valued new feature is one of the most effective ways to compete.(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, Pg. 215)
The features of this product are that it brings together salty and spicy foods together. These chips are flavored with chorizo, sherry vinegar, and paprika. These flavors all enhance flavors and also goes great with alcoholic beverages.
The difference between a feature and a benefit is that a feature describes what the product has, such as with smartphones they can surf the internet, text, take pictures, etc. Where as a benefit is something that has more value. It brings to you an experience, it could benefit your health, benefit you financially. It draws you in and it shows that the company cares about its customers where as features is about competition.

EOC Week 9: Three Great Mission Statements

“Some companies define their missions myopically in product or technology terms (“We make and sell furniture” or “We are a chemical-processing firm”). But mission statements should be market oriented and defined in terms of satisfying basic customer needs. Products and technologies eventually become outdated, but basic market needs may last forever. Cold Stone Creamery’s mission isn’t simply to sell ice cream. Its mission is to “make people happy around the world by selling the highest quality, most creative ice cream experience with passion, excellence, and innovation.” Likewise, Under Armour’s mission isn’t just to make performance sports apparel, it’s “to make all athletes better through passion, science, and the relentless pursuit of innovation.” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, Pg. 40)
I choose the three mission statements that I felt stood out the reasons were: good terminology, humor, and they draw you in.
Sharon St.Lauren's mission statement was really good. I liked the terms that are used because they pull you in, such as "packed with power in every bite," and "smile around the world." http://sewb4us.blogspot.com/
Joaquim Abbott's mission statement had a good way to draw you into the product. It made you enjoy the snacks without even trying them yet, which is a good way to make people want to try your products. It also draws in different demographics; it lets people know that even adults will be able to enjoy the snacks that the company makes. http://jquik.blogspot.com/
Victor Camarillo's mission statement has humor in it and humor is always a good thing. You want people to be able to laugh and enjoy what it is you are selling. Humor is a great way to keep people interested and ultimately buy your products. http://vegasvicphoto.blogspot.com/

Week 8 EOC: Creative Content

For my creative content I am going to create a story board of how I want the commercial to play out. It will show skits of how Phileas Fogg grew mad of how amazing this snack smelled, that he would practically do anything just to get a little taste of it. First it will start off with Phileas leaving the hot air balloon and ending up in Madrid instead of Barcelona.Second, it will show the man in the red hat eating the product and leaving on a carriage. Third, it will show how Phileas went miles and miles in a city he wasn’t supposed to be in, just to get a taste of the product. Fourth, show the chase and a glimpse into the dangerous adventure that Phileas had to go through. Finally show the man in the red hat saying “A deals a deal” taking Phileas to this bar and then vanishing. This commercial will show consumers the madness this product has on people. This product is so amazingly good that you will do just about anything, just as Phileas did, to get one bite. This commercial will show the rush, the danger, and the mystery that this product carries. In just a few bites this product will pull you back into Phileas’ shoes, and you will then be able to understand why Phileas was so desperately trying to find this product. It is a mouth full of immeasurable adventures, danger, and mystery, that you will regret if you do not try it.
These are just the first scenes of the commercial to give you a glance.

Week 8 BOC: The Adventure

I, Phileas Fogg am set to take an adventure through the amazing city of Barcelona, but found myself in the heart and soul of Spain…Madrid. I went to ask a man if there was anyway to get to Barcelona?” But then there was this amazing scent, a scent that my nose hadnever witnessed before. I walked away before I could ask, hypnotized by this delicious smell. A man with a suit and a red hat was eating it as he walked towards a carriage. I began to follow him. While following the man I became so lost that Itripped over a luggage. I quickly tried to get up but I wasn’t fast enough, Ilost him. I grew mad, lost track of time, and went searching all over thestreets of Madrid, in search for this amazing scent. After so many scowling hoursI couldn’t find it. I became tired and upset because I have spent a whole dayin a city that I wasn’t even supposed to be in! In the corner of my eye I sawthat red hat! I ran, shouting “Hey you stop!” The man began running. Watereverywhere, nowhere left for him to go, but I didn’t see him. He was miles awayon a boat, so I jumped on one and chased after him. He disappeared. I got offand found him holding a knife to my neck.  He asked “Who are you?” I said “I saw you leaving a hot air balloon and wanted to know what you were eating.” The man said “there aremany men after me, so if you help me get what I am searching for I will helpyou.”  We went on this terrifying voyagethen he said “A deals a deal,” took me to this bar, then vanished.

Week 6 EOC: Me X 3

The three things that I feel define me are: a sewing machine, accessories, and the Eiffel Tower. These objects define me because people always tell me, “Oh I saw this...and I thought of you."

A sewing machine, from the needle, to the thread, and the final outcome, it defines me. I really enjoy creating things. I usually make clutches, but I hope that one day I will learn to create more things. When my parents or other people are brainstorming on birthday gifts and things such as that, the things that usually come to mind are clothing, shoes, fabric, FASHION. That is why I feel these objects define me.

Accessories to me help a person feel more confident and have self-expression. It could be a causal Friday and you are kind of feeling a bit tired and lazy so you are wearing a plain white T and some jeans. To put some more enthusiasm into your outfit, mood, confidence, and day, just add some accessories. You can make your outfit pop, look unique, and your day can turn out better than you thought it would have when you woke up that morning and threw on a T-shirt and a pair of jeans. Rather they are sparkly bracelets or an amazing handbag, accessories can always make your outfit and yourself feel better.

The reason why I choose the Eiffel Tower is because I love fashion. Paris is one of the major fashion capitals of the world, and to me once you see the Eiffel Tower you automatically think of fashion...or at least that's what I think of. Traveling to Paris has probably been a dream that I have had since I was a little girl, all the lights, the monumental Eiffel Tower, the amazing fashion, and sense of style.
